Our Permanent Hair Removal Technology uses the New Generation Variable Pulsed Light (VPL) machine.

There are 3 types of Permanent Hair Reduction; Laser, IPL & VPL…

All remove hair with an Intense Pulsed Light beam.

This Pulsed Light Energy targets the melanin (colour) in the hair and selectively heats the hair follicle at the root, to inhibit the hair regenerating.

Our Energist brand VPL has been a leader in Pulsed Light since 1999. Energist VPL techology is regarded worldwide as one of the best and most reliable Pulsed Light devices for Permanent Hair Reduction plus Skin Rejuvenation, Pigment Reduction and superficial vascular Facial Red Veins.

The VPL variable settings means that our machine can effectively treat thicker underarm hair or finer facial hair and

adjust to different skin types.

What is VPL?
Why choose VPL?
When do I start?

The best time to start treatments is Autumn. So your skin is no longer exposed to the strong sun April to November is the best time to complete your treatments

What does VPL Pulsed Light feel like?

At each treatment, hundreds of hair follicles can be removed with each light pulse that feels like a quick hot flick. Hairs that are treated at that session will naturally fall out over the next 1-3 weeks, resulting in smoother silkier skin.

How many treatments do I need?

Your Individual hairs are in different stages of growth, so some hairs miss out on being treated at one session.  This is why you need to do several treatments so it catches all the hairs through their various stages to prevent re-growth. Treatments required will vary from person to person. Usually 4 to 8 treatments will need to be completed during the winter.

How often do I need to come?

Your personal treatment course, will be recommended by the technician. Usually Appointments are 4-8 weeks apart on a regular basis.  After the initial course, an occasional maintenance treatment may be needed once per year. Hair reduction of 10%-25% per treatment is realistic.

Refrain from waxing, plucking or bleaching the hair to be removed. You can shave the area any time from 1-5 days before the treatment ensuring that there is enough growth to make the hair follicles visible for the technician.

Check any contra-indications of medication you are taking with your Doctor. Avoid sun exposure, sunbeds, spraytan and tanning products for six weeks prior to treatments and between treatments. Wear sunblock throughout the day.

How do I prepare myself?

The treated area may have a warm sensation or a mild swelling or even be itchy for up to a few days. You can apply a cool compress, ice, Aloe Vera or a healing product that your technician recommends like Lakoko Natural Balm and Renew Skin 100% Pure Body Silk Oil.

Occasionally small scabs may form, so do not pick or rub these areas. Pat dry after showering and apply a healing/soothing product.  Wear clothing and protect area from sun exposure. Apply a sunblock (SPF 30) and avoid sun exposure for 6 weeks after a treatment. Avoid sun exposure, sunbeds and spraytans and tanning products between treatments.

After treatments you may notice your hair is purging for the next 2-3 weeks. Wait for one week before exfoliating with a loofah or buff glove. Wear Sunblock throughout the day.

What is the Aftercare?

The amount of hair loss will vary from person to person and results may take time. Hair reduction of 10%-25% per treatment is realistic.

The majority of hair will not return after a few treatments and any residual hair growth is usually finer, softer and lighter in colour. For maximum hair loss and faster results, you will need to follow the course recommendations from your technician.

Then you can really enjoy less fuss and silky smooth skin!
